Default Tranny Swap?

Okay so everyone has read the infamous engine swap posts. What about transmissions? I have an '02 Automatic that I'd like to turn into a stick shift. Is this even really possibly without spending thousands of dollars? I owe quite a lot of money on the car still so I don't really want to trade it or buy another car. If it is possible, any suggestions or things to avoid?

Not worth it is all I read and hear. It would cost you more in the end than if you just sold the auto and bought a stick. You could always through a manual valve body in for a few hundred bucks and get some control back over the car.

It is a pretty big project. I thought we just had a post about it. Your going to need the The computer system from a stick 02 and of course the console pedals and the T-56. A good T-56 will sell for $1200 to $1500. You may find a high miles one for a little less. Decent Clutch and flywheel is going to run you $400 master/slave cylinder another $200. If $2500 plus replacing your whole wiring harness does not scare you it should not be a major project.

That is when you change your transmission to only shift when you shift. Its a left over from the old days. In the old day the valve body controled the shift points. That ment you could not crank up the line pressure to high or you would screw up all your shift points. When you changed it to a manual shift you could crank up the line pressue and make the automatic snap your neck. The reason I say its a left over is because with the computer controling the shift there is no real reason for it unless you are getting rid of the computer.

Maybe a nice shifter would do? Do they still make a dual gate?

This is the last thread we talked about. I forgot about cutting a section of the floor out. Oh and your car is a V6 forget what I said about the T-56. T5's are pretty cheap
