Default Third Gen tranny swap.

Hey guys,

I am thinking about picking up an 88' IROC Z and it's an automatic. I know back in the days of the third gen not too many muscle cars were stick shift anymore. Did they ever make a third gen Camaro that was manual shift?

I had an 88 that was a 5 speed. It wasn't an IROC, it was a 305. RS I think.

5 speed was an option with the 305 Iroc. We sold a lot of them back in the day. Funny part is they were cheaper then the automatics, now they sell anywhere from $500-1000 more then an automatic in the same condition.

The L98 350 Iroc was NOT offered with the 5 speed. GM engineers decided that the WC T5 5 speed could not stand up to the torque the L98 had.

There was soo many complaints about no stick in the L98 that when they came out with the T56 in 93 they made a bolt in version and sold it as a kit. These cars a very rare and the kit has not been available for almost 20 year.
