Hey guys, I have a 1996 Z28 with the t56 6 speed. I need to know if it is possible to swap to a 4l60e auto. I have a bad left knee and changing gears is killing me. I love the car but wish I had an automatic. Can this be done and is it terribly expensive? Please somebody smarter than me give me some advise. Thanks, Shane.

 

its easier to go manuel to auto and if you want a 4l60e if you go over to ls1tech post in the wtb section im sure you could find someone that would do a trade you give him everything he needs for a swap and he gives you all you need. idk exactly wat you need though

 

Sell it and buy an Automatic. The 6 speeds are bringing more money. You may be able to pick up a LS1 auto for what you can get for your LT1 6 speed.

I am sure you could find someone to swap you for free and they do the labor, Assuming you could find someone you could trust.
