Default tail lamp question

Do all years of the tail lamps separate at the upper edge above the backup lamp lens? I installed all new bulbs back in August and blew one yesterday. Seems the housing was about 3/4 full of water! The bulb didn't like that.
I'll hit the yards looking for a replacement but if I *know* that the problem was fixed for later years I'll get those.
I couldn't *believe* how much water poured out of the tail lamp assembly after i removed it.

far as i know they all can lose there seal. can you get the lens off so you can re seal it? if not or you dont want to risk screwing it up you can drill one or two small holes in the bottom of the housing.

Drilling holes will definitely be the temporary fix. Who knows how long it'll be until the U-pull-It gets a Camaro with nice lenses.

What really burns me up is that i pulled a pair off a 93 last autumn. They were in super nice condition and already in my shopping cart! As I added more parts, though, I worried about having enough cash at checkout and I put them back inside the car. Big mistake.

I've had the same problem. For now, I've used an outdoor silicone to seal the tops of my lenses where they meet the black plastic textured lip on the top of the taillight housing. I did it once before, but it didn't hold up through the winter. But I don't think I used the right type of silicone.

I've also bought one good housing off a forum member at a good price. I'll use it if/when my repair job fails.

I pulled the left tail light yesterday to drill some holes at the bottom of the housing. What? There are already two holes there! Factory holes, that is. Seems the designer predicted what might happen and the tooling includes two holes at the very bottom of the back housing and a vent hole higher up. These are small holes (1/16") with a cast boss around them so I know they're factory. All i had to do was stick the garden hose in a lamp hole and flush everything out. Now the water drains beautifully. A spare pair of tail lights is still on my short list of junkyard parts though.

I would just silicon them. All the ones I've seen have this issue.

Check on eBay. I got a good used pair for what I would like to say is a good deal compared to the other prices I saw. Both left and right shipped for $50.
