I currently have 67 tail lights (bezels and lenses) i'm wondering if i can put 68 bezels and lenses on? are they the same or not? I've tried checking in my restoration books but it only talks about the bezel and lenses.

 

I'm almost positive that they are interchangable. The 67 bezels are solid and 68's are split. It will make a difference whether its a standard or RS style. The standard style have the reverse lights in them. The RS does not.

 

Ok, so I somehow confused myself while writing the first reply. There is no difference in the 67 and 68 as far as the light & bezel being solid or having a split. Like i said that occures between standard and RS. The only difference between the years should be the texture of the lens. 67 is smooth and 68 is rigid.

 

In 67 the bezel showed only one lens the only diff being the standard had the back up light on the tail light the RS (RPO Z22) had it mounted below.

in 68 the tail light is segmented (bar down the middle) again the standard light has the back ups inside the taillight on the rs the back up light is below.

this is according to "Original Camaro 1967-1969 the restorers guide to all models 1967-1969" by Jason Scott (67 tails on page 14&15, 68 tails on pae 54&55) copyright 2001

However in "Camaro restoration guide 1967-1969" also by Jason Scott copyright 1997 he says that 67's only had one lens option (no diffrent option for those who ordered RPO Z22)

I'm more willing to believe the book with the 2001 copyright


well anyway what i'm really still unsure about is weather or not 68 bezels and lenses will work on a 67 tail light assembly.
