69 Tail light question

69 Tail light question
Hi,
I'm a bit confused. I'm buying a 69 Camaro this coming week and my question is about its tailights. It has the RS type tailights (no backup clear lense in the middle) but it doesn't have the clear lenses under the bumper nor the holes to place them.
First tought was that the prevoius owner just replaced the tailights with RS's or the rear valance was changed to the normal one, either one could have happend, however I thought of asking about this since I saw several Camaros with RS tailights and no backup lenses in ebay so I'm not sure if this was common mod perform or an option from factory. Any information regarding the this would be apreciated.

To my understanding the 69 tail lights were with or without integrated backup lenses. The standard tail light had the backup clear lens in the middle, only the RS option tail lights deleted the middle backup lens and had installed backup lights in the rear valance below the bumpers. Any 69 you see with RS tail lights but no backup lights below the bumpers either had the tail lights changed to an RS unit (not an original RS car) or had the RS valance removed/changed leaving out the backup lights. A common 69 mod is the RS conversion but some owners chose to just install the hidden headlights and omit the other RS components. A usual 'good guess' is if RS tail lights seen on a 69 with no backup lights below the bumper, probably that car was not an original RS car. Not 100% but a good guess

i agree with 69 if it doesnt have the hide-a-way headlights then they just put rs tail lights in it. also i think they look better than the standard tail lights
