Default tail light question for a 73

Hey Guys, I have a 73 and was wondering if anyone has changed the tail lights, i would like to take out the back-up lights, and add another set of running / brake lights. I have looked and know the tabs are different, i can mod these, and change the plug socket, anything im missing, or will this work

Yes, I changed mine to a 4 light system. If you're keeping the incandescent lamps then you'll need to change the lenses to the same as the outter lenses. Also need to change the sockets to a 3 wire socket if you want them to blink and work as both tailight and brake lights. If you just want tailights, then you can cut the existing sockets loose and wire to the taailight ckt. from the other lights.
I changed mine to red LED, and by doing so I was able to use the same lenses and just change the sockets out.

No, I have no backup lights at all. I thought about getting the license plate frame with BU lights in it, but wont clear my bumper when I open to fuel.

My last car was a pro/street vega that i did the same light gig on, for back-up lights i bought some real small fog lights and mounted them under the car, you couldnt see them, and they lit up the world when in reverse, going to do the same thing on the camaro.

mabye theres a way to do some small round Backuplights with some Really powerful leds ( like 1-5 watt) leds and some small clear marker lights

mabye like these and gut the backs to fit a small CC Driver heat sink and possibly some focusing optic if you get a perfectly clear flat lens type

It looks soo much better with 4 tail/brake lights, especially if you put in leds!!!

I haven't had backup lights in many years, I just ride the brakes a little because the led brakelights are very bright!

Yeah, definitely makes a difference. I notice people really back off when I touch the brake pedal now.

Notice how the LEDs energize way before the filaments in the front. Doesn't mean anything I just noticed because I spent the last two weeks tearing apart CFLs in my electronics math class.
