Replacing a fuel filter on a 3.8 V6 (any advice?)
Hey all-
First, I hope everyone has a great and happy Thanksgiving.
Second, I'm looking to replace the fuel filter on my 2001 Camaro 3.8.
I've never done it before and was going to go by this as a guide: Fuel Filter Replacement - InstallUniversity.com LSX, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and Apple
Does anyone have any tips for doing this specifically on a V6 or is it pretty similar? Do we have a Scharder valve to drain pressure on our 3.8 engines (as seen in step 4)?
Thanks!
Robby

Haynes/Chilton manual would help more and will help with later issues. Not too much to it. Make sure you have a rag handy to keep fuel from spilling and making a mess. I don't remember if the 3.8 has a test port or not. Make sure you got quick disconnects and all the right tools. Other than that, it's like a 30 minute job, if that.
On my '96 3.8 there is a schrader valve on the left (driver's) side of the engine, on the fuel rail. Use a rag, and tap that center pin you'll see with a valve stem cap (or similar tool) and the residual pressure will bleed off in a couple seconds.
Make sue your fuel tank is below 1/4 tank, loosen the gas cap to let any internal pressure from the tank escape, use a back-up wrench on all fittings, and watch your eyes when you remove the old filter.
Also, do the filter change where there's plenty of ventilation.....
