Radio Wiring Question
Hey, I have a 1997 30th anniversary Camaro v6 with a 4 way speaker and I installed a new radio but the speakers are very very low and will not turn up. I did some looking around and was going to change out the amp. But I cannot find it anywhere in the car, on either side of the bottom sail panels or the back right side of the hatchback behind the spare. Any ideas? Thanks!!

From looking at the radio wiring schematics in the 1997 service manual, not all systems had an amplifier. Your car sounds like it could be a base model. The standard radio in 1997 was a UM6. Look at the service parts information sticker on the driver door to see if UM6 (cassette) is listed. If it is, the service manual doesn't show it using an amplifier. Optional radios would be listed as UL0 (cassette) or UN0 (cd player).

The Chevrolet Product Order Guide says a Camaro Premium Speaker System was available on the Coupe only. It was a six speaker system with two front 6' diameter speakers, two rear sail panel mounted 6' diameter speakers and two rear 4' diameter speakers. The service manual says the car had to be equipped with the UL0 or UN0 radio option with a multidisc cd rear player to have this speaker system and its amplifier would have been behind the right quarter inner trim finishing panel. I'm not familiar enough with the under dash locations to know what the picture is showing. Looking through component views in the service manual, that could be the Daytime Running Lamp Module.
