'85 Camaro
Alright, so I just got my first car, and it's a 1985 Camaro. Now, I don't know all that much about cars, but I do know that I have had a love of Camaros since I was a child. (And to some of you, I still am. :P ) Now, the only thing wrong with it was the basic recall issues, such as the front seat latches (Which I replaced), and the other two things were fine. But the only real problem I am experiencing is the radio. Basic radio\tape player. I can hear the radio when the Camaro's idling, or when I'm at the stoplight, but it will not go any louder than just above being able to hear it when stopped. I have looked below the dashboard, on the passenger side, and I think I found which wires were to the radio, but I was wondering if it could be the fuses, or the wires themselves?
The radio wires are behind the radio. The main wires are yellow(constant),orange(illimanation),black(ground ),and red(switched).Have you put an Ohm meter on the radio fuse in the fuse box(driver side)?Does the radio stay on the whole time(meaning power wise)?I am leaning more toward the radio itself being the culprit.I have benched and replaced many Delco radios. In fact i had a similar issue with mine in my 84.But if the radio is still on the whole time and it has low volume, then i would still suspect the radio. Are your speakers good?If you can give me some more info and we can narrow it down.
Turns out the rear left speaker is blown, and the two dash speakers are as well. I can currently only afford to fix the back ones. The radio itself is just fine, although it could stand to be replaced. I'd like to take it somewhere that works specificly on Camaros, if anyone knows of some good ones in the midwest area. (Kansas, Missouri) Also, Taking it up to Autozone tomorrow to have the air from the breaks bled. Also, anyone know a good set of speakers that are relatively cheap?
