Default power wires

I did the series II swap to III and I have almost everything back together and I got it started today but I have a power wired that I have no clue where it goes. its one of the ones that come off the positive of the battery, one goes to the starter I have the black wire going to the fuse box but I one left over that I'm lost where to put it.

Help me out here, what is a series II to III swap? Are you saying the positive battery cable has three conductors coming from it? Most late models will have a conductor to the starter solenoid, another to the underhood fuse box and last one to the alternator.

I took an engine out of a 2006 Buick which has a series III 3.8 in it. Anyways the black wire goes to the fuse box, one of the red goes to the starter and I have one more red wire, the alt is already connected and running. The wire has a ring connected at the end so it bolts down somewhere

Not sure how you have the alternator wired, but here's are several drawings from the 1996 Camaro Service Manual showing the battery cable terminations. There should be a cable from the large stud of the alternator to the positive post of the battery in order to recharge the battery.
