Oil pan gasket Removal.
97 Camaro 3.8l v6
I have searched the forum. Nothing I really want comes up. I know it is there but where? Anyway...
I have seen some people do the job with multiple jacks and what not. My situation is different. The car is on four 6 ton jack stands. I have the motor pretty much torn apart as I am replacing anything I do not want to in the future. I want to avoid pulling the motor completely out.
My question is, would it be easier to raise the motor from the bottom or the top? It seems like putting a cherry picker over it and raising the motor up a bit after I loosened or taken out motor mount bolts would be the ideal way. Doing it from under could be dangerous or damage the car.
I do not have a cherry picker however. Although I am sure I could swindle one. What do you V6 enthusiasts think?
The oil isn't leaking BADLY or anything but I think it needs to be changed. If I tighten the bolts on the oil pan gasket a little would it get me by for a while? Such an involved job such a stupid gasket.
Any guidance will be well received.

i changed mine but its a lt1. after unhooking mounts lifted the front of the motor as far as it would go and had to turn the crank so allow the pan to get past the counter balancers and all. i was changing the oil pump.

I have never tried what you are doing, it is so easy pulling the motor that not pulling the motor when you are working on the top and bottom does not make sense.
I can give you an opinion. Lower the K frame. With the trans still installed you will be limited on how far you can raise the engine. If you drop the K-member then you will be limited by brake line but if you need a little more you can undo brake lines or brake line brackets.
