Erm...the reason he was slow off the line wasn't because he had AWD, it's because he has no low end torque what-so-ever. He picks up down the track because his big freakin' turbo can finally get spooled. AWD cars usually have a great launch...Either way, no reason to have AWD for the launch when you're front wheels are off the ground anyway.

Well this was just a thought. OK forget the AWD what about a rear engine. Im really just curious as to how this would perform and have no actual plans on doing this.

It would not be worth the effort and cost involved, considering how fast you can go with the engine in the stock location. IF this was an advantage someone would already have done it years ago.

agreed considering ppl run 8s wit the stock engine placement in these cars

its not as bad as you would think to make it work. the only thing i would be iffy on would be if theres enough room from behind the seats to the rear of the car. the porsche trans axle is kind of long. if you hand a welder, pipe bender and a plasma cutter it would be a fun project. my friend built a rear engine CRX a few years ago, he made his own subframe, swing arms, the whole works. http://180customs.net/Gallery/v/Rides/vinnypaul3/crx/
