Default Mid Engine

First off this is my first post. I don't know if this should go here or somewhere else.

While in class today i was thinking how to build a car strictly for the strip. I thought of taking a 98-02 Camaro and making it mid engine and all wheel drive kind of like the Lambroghini Reventon and Gallardo are built. i know this would be very expensive and time consuming but it was just a thought i had today in class. What would be needed to do this? This would almost eliminat wheel spin at launch.

Let me know what you guys think.

Hmmmmm.....better rear wheel traction? OK. But I wonder just how much higher you could get the nose of the car with the engine shoved way back?
Ooops! This is the 4th Gen section, and I accidentally showed a 69!!

All wheel drive is great for a pro touring car. Not the strip. The strip is all about launch. With any lanch the weight of the car is shifted to the back of the car.A car with as little as 400 hp will see very little weight on the front tires at launch. Therefore you can get no traction with the front tires. All you will do is waste power turning all those extra parts. Now pulling out of a 1.2G turn is where you AWD shines.

If you're building a car for the strip there's no reason you need it to be AWD for traction, you can get plenty of traction with tubbed wheel wells and some big slicks...Save the conversion money and put it into the motor if you're serious about this.

the CHEAP way to do this would be to buy the lamborghini and fab up the fbody body to its chassis....... mid engine awdisnt a good drag setup. there is a reason why funny cars and the nitromethane cars go with rwd.

Well i was watching pinks all out and this guy had a Mitsubishi Mirage that he took the awd conversion and the turbofrom a Eclipse GSX, added a few mods and was able to smoke his way into the All out 4. He was slower than ***** off the line but about half way down he blew by the competition until he went up against this old Chevy truck.

Umm are your sure it was not a VR4 Gallant. And he had more then just a few bolt on's.

I was interested when the mid engine tread opened but now this is just retarded [>:]. WHAT WILL YOU NEED. Well lets start out with about 100,000 bucks that should get you started.
