no there is a pin that locks the cylinder in place that does not require being able to turn the cylinder. (part 18 in post #5)

Also here is a link to a Fiero forum where some one shows how to build one of these Columns. The base of the Fiero Column is different but the tilt mech is the same with the exception of the airbag coil. This will show you what you need.

Hey guys. Sorry for the late response, been real busy.

Ok, well... I decided to go ahead and install a home-made push button start. This requires a special device (a key, for lack of better words) to start her. It's working fine so far and I'm pretty satisfied for the moment.

I'm gonna try to get some pics up here for you guys to check it out. I just have to find my cam first.. seeing how my Nokia 6790 bit the dust 2 days ago.

The rig is pretty discrete. The actual device (key) that is required to power on the fuel pump and such is very hidden and would require a lot of time to find. Also, I made it so the key device is wired in before where someone would typically hot-wire a car. So, to hot-wire her, essentially, the hood would have to be released and work from there. Smart? So, I'm not worried about the risk of auto-theft.

I think you guys will like my work, once I get pics up here. I'll work on finding my cam tomorrow when I get off work. If I can't find it, I'll buy another one (years over due) when I get back from Miami Friday morning.

I'll keep everyone posted on any changes/improvements I make.

Later guys.

PS: I'm about to get in the market for another car. (keeping my 94' project still). If I get another Camaro (feeling that idea), you guys mind giving suggestions on what year I should get?
