The fans are definitely coming on - I can hear them running when I look under the hood and the car is on/just turned off. The T-Stat is located at the end of the upper rad. hose on the 3.8’s, isn’t it? I’m at work now, so I’ll have to look at it later. And if that sludge does end up creating enough of a blockage, what would be the best course of action? Any flushing or cleaning methods? Or do I bite the bullet and get a new rad? This is all, of course, provided that the t-stat doesn’t fix it.

Step one is a coolant pressure test. Will the system hold pressure over time? Pump it up to 16 PSI and come back in a half an hour or so. If the pressure holds then do the thermostat and flush to coolant system. If not search youtube for "finding a coolant leak with a pressure tester", "checking a head gasket with a pressure tester" and "testing rad cap with a pressure tester." Most chain parts stores will let you borrow a pressure tester with a safety deposit that will be returned.

Hint: Since some system have been used by non-pros you want to spray soapy water on the tester and the hose to make sure the tester itself is not leaking.
Gorn, sorry to keep going back and forth with a few things, but I pulled out my good code reader (can pull ABS and PCM codes) and it’s showing 43 different PCM codes, most of which conflict with each other. There are three or four related to the trans. Is it possible that many of my problems are coming from a faulty PCM?

—edit—
pulled code 0601 - Control Module Read Only Memory.

Im going to pull my multimeter out tonight and check the voltage on the PCM. Fingers crossed it’s a PCM... they have a few at my junkyard with a good return policy.
