Codes ABS
This becomes very annoying because there are no bluetooth scanners that can communicate over the obd1 pin.
As a result, it is impossible to pull abs codes with a tech2.
Is this the case for all obd2 f bodies?

Red Devil River sells a Bluetooth adapter that can use TunerProRT which, with the right ADX file, can scan the ABS. However I am not sure any files have been written by users.
ALDL Bluetooth
Also the Tech II can definitely access the ABS, SIR and PCM of all GM cars back to 1991 at least. I have one and have used it for the ABS controller of my 98 T/A on pin9.
My scan app , Scan9495, using a standard 16-pin OBD1 cable can access the ABS on the 96 at least and probably the 97 as well. I just haven't tested it on a 97.
Not really true.

Interesting about what you have said, I will check out it. What about other propriatary codes like bcm/pcm codes etc?
I also have a c5 corvette and my bluetooth scanner is unable to pull some of the pcm codes as well. SInce i do all my repairs myself, it would be very useful to be able to pull them all.
I'm thinking about bighting the bullet and buying a proper tech2 - maybe one of those aliexpress ones, although i have read very mixed reviews on them.
I have bought 3 of those from Ali Express and they all work fine for 99% of the uses. One was for a friend and I have the other two. They also sell all the parts now so you can fix a broken screen for $50 if needed, for example.
Buy ones without the large plastic case. It costs a lot less (under $250) than ones with the case, probably due to shipping costs. I don't like the case that came with my first one anyway. It broke easily. Get a generic hard case from Harbor Freight for $20 or less.
To make it 100% compatible you would have to change out the DC power module on the main circuit board for about $20. Not difficult but good soldering skills are needed. Without it, you have to avoid turning on the ignition with the tool plugged in or it will reset. More of a nuisance than anything. At least one advanced feature will not work properly without this mod but you will probably never need it (crank sensor position relearn).
