Default 98 3.8 V6 won't start.

So I bought my car real cheap and now she won't start. I've tried jumping it off of my daily driver, no success there. I've checked wire connections and for any corrosion. I know it maybe the starter or could be something else, but before I spend money on something that might not be the problem I thought I would ask for help.

When I turn the key on, engine off, all the lights come on and I hear a clicking from the rear of the vehicle and the security light flashes/stays on. When I try to crank the car, nothing happens. Any ideas?

The flashing security light indicates that the ignition key is defective or the contacts for it are defective. If the key is ok, the likely cause is defective contact(s) in the key cylinder on the steering column. Since it is a pain to replace, some folks use a VATS bypass technique to get around that. You can buy or make a resistor that connects under the dash to take the place of the key's resistor pellet. Just about any GM user web site (like this one) has the details.

Thanks for the info and the link to the how-to guide, I would be searching all over trying to figure out how to fix it. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the Camaro running again.
