I use napa super premium pads and rotors on all of my cars and the cars i do side work on. No complaints except for when i used cheap ones on the rear of my moms 02 saturn. One was warped .005 of an inch off the shelf.

I'm happy with my powerstop slotted & drilled rotors, hawks ceramic pads
the strano braided brake lines help control spongy feeling peddle

If you have a junkyard near you could could snag front brakes off a newer camaro to get bigger brakes and 2 pot calipers.

I will agree it is a nice upgrade but he would need the spindles off a 98+ car also and if the junk yard calipers have been sitting for a while they may need rebuilt/replaced. The set I got was not even rebuildable.
