Default Bleeding Brakes ? anti lock brakes

Haynes manual says that brakes cannot be properly bleed without a special tool for anti lock systems. Is this true? I disconnected the front brake lines when removing the cradle and will need to bleed them when reconnecting. This car is a 96 with disc brakes on front and drums on rear.

thanks,

Default

They should bleed OK using standard methods as long as the ABS light is off does not come on when after the engine is running. If the ABS light is on, then special procedures and tools are needed. The internal mechanisms in the ABS system need to be in normal state in order to bleed the brakes the old fashioned way.
