bought a 91rs 305tbi
got it from a friend it didnt run when he got it, he replaced
exhuast ignition plugs cap
now it runs
but it stutters when you floor it and if you a gear too high its like its getting choked or something.
sometimes it will sputter and then kick in. which is kinda scary.

the car runs okay but its missing SOMETHING it should be faster than this.
in the next two weeks ill be changing:
wires, o2 sensor, air filter, fuel filter, and a ton of carb cleaner and injector cleaner
if this dont get it done im not sure where to go

any other suggestions? or anyone encountered this before?
maybe timing, fuel pressure regulator, injectors.

ive been driving S10s for the past 7 years so i dont know a whole lot about these cars/engines

sounds like a computer problem almost... do you have access to a scanner?

 

the ses isnt on and ive been told that means its not throwing codes.
put in a new air filter and 6oz of lucas fuel cleaner w/ some 93 gas. filled the coolant back up.
runs a little smoother now but still sputters between 1250-3500 (roughly) rpm range.
im closing on my home equity loan on sat so i should have the $ to startupgrading next week.
but i still want to fix this problem before i rip it apart.

runs perfect now
if you need to change your wires i suggest having some one else lay under the car and pass them down.
either way get some one to help you itll make it way easier
