new issue/rearend

[QUOTE=steved;410895]I have a buddy that owns a junk yard.He has a couple 3rd gens in there.I am going to check the rearends in both of them.I will put the better of them in this car for now.
In most cases they will be Open Rears, unless they are IROC/Z28's which will have a limited Slip rear (RPO G80). Major reason for rear diff failure is excessive BURNOUTS....

Not always the case. I had an 86 IROC and my freind had an 85 IROC, neither had G80 on the RPO sticker. It was an option.

I did say" In most cases" and that means NOT 100%. I realy don't care what you or your friend had and it was the exception as I stated. Also learn how to spell friend not "FREIND".

i have a 95 geo tracker with an open rear, and about 80% of the time, it spins both rear tires (yes, it does spin tires!). it all depends on traction and if the brakes grab more on one side or another.
if you need a rear, i have a 2.73 posi rear from my 86 that id be willing to part out. 26 spline axles. you could also find a blazer rear and find out if the axles are the same length. most second gen s10 blazers have a limited slip. you could swap over the internals, and most have 3.73 gears as well

ok gentlemen take the crap elsewhere. u have jacked the thread enough, keep it up and ull find yourselves in trouble. to the op i would suggest looking for a differential from a z, the cost should be about the same to have a shop set up the gear in yours as it is for the compete rear end.

My friend cut the rear out of one of the z28s he had.He didnt check to see if was a limited slip and when I opened it up at home it wasnt a limited slip.So now I will have to go down to the yard and check the iroc.If that car doesnt have what I am looking for I will PM you micro kid.How many hours are you from cleveland?
