u can fit about any chevy small or big block into a 3rd gen with a little work, you could probably manage a disiel if u wanted to go thru the work of it as far as turbos, i dont see alot of chevys running anything other than full blower setups. so couldnt help u there much

big block cant fit a conventional turbo setup, unless you go with one of those retarded rear mounted turbos. i know the 454 fits with just a new k-member and motor mounts and heavier springs. but good luck changing the spark plugs.

ive also seen them with the 32 valve corvette engine in them, labeled the "4 cam" with no problems. but good luck finding an engine like that.

yes it is actually the LT5 quadcam engine that you are talking about. still a 5.7 but it has 4 cams and only 5000 of these were made in 5 years so pretty much any owner of a ZR1 corvette knows exactly where every other one is.

I wanted to buy an LT5 for my third gen until I found out how rare and expensive they are. I was also thinking about the Callaway twin turbo tuned port motor. Thats a badassengine but looks like you have to take apart the turbo setup to fix anything like header bolts, spark plugs or wires.Name: 00MVC-010F.jpg

Sorry to be petty, but this is a pet peeve of mine: "Motors" are electric. Your question deals with "engines".

I'd agree that just about anything will fit, though why anyone would put a 454 in a 3rd gen F-body is beyond me. Bragging rights? A well built SBC will put out as much power as most BBs. Obviously there are limits to what one could achieve with a SBC, but you will hit a point where you will have more power than you can effectively put to the ground without going to a pro-street drag set-up. Not worth the trouble, in my opinion.

And what is wrong with having more power then you can put to the ground?..some subframe connectors, traction bars and fat tires and your all set.
