Default How hard to replace tach/speedometer cable on and 84?

I'm kinda tired of my stock tach and speedometer not working.

I'm guessing I need to replace the cable on the speedometer and not sure what to do about the tach.

How hard is it to replace the speedometer cable and how do I fix the tach?

On the tach, it pegs out to 7000rpm no matter how fast or slow I'm moving.

Thanks in advance.

you can get an aftermarket tach for about $50. i would advise to avoid cheaper ones as they generally arent accurate, but i also doubt you need a racing tach. the speedo cable is a bit tricky. my oem one was a two peice with a fitting under the brake booster. you need to remove the cluster and removing the steering wheel may be needed (i dont have the stock wheel). theres one or two clamps securing the cable to the frame. the back of the speedo is two metal tabs you push on and it comes off. the trans has a large screw on peice
