axle code for limited slip rear end?
Hello, Recently got a 94 camaro with a LT1, 4L60E auto. I think It has a limited slip but I'm not sure. If possible, I don't want to remove the rear diff cover because the cover doesn't leak and it looks like the previous owner put some fresh clean oil in. I did jack the rear end up and turned the driveshaft, which I noticed both wheels turned the same direction. I then lowered one of the wheels down on the pavement and turned the other that was still floating. I encountered some resistance but the wheel did spin. I'm not sure if this is a valid test nor do I know if these model came with factory limited-slips? I'm wondering if knows the location and number of the axle code which would indicate a limited slip? Thanks for any replies

Hey thanks for the location. I got some numbers right where you said. My numbers are SPL 278...1? Does that sound right, so does that mean it might be a 2.78 gearing? That pretty high for my city driving.

If you have limited slip, there should be an additional tag attached to one of the bolts holding the the rear cover to the axle. The problem is that many times the tags rust away or gets lost when the cover is removed.
