86 IROC 305 FI TPS problems
In the book i have it says the tps should be set at .525 so i set it there and it will run fine for a little bit the light will come on and you cant push the gas or it will die and if you go out and check the tps it will read .530.
The car is a 86 iroc 305 FI it was my dads but he gave it to me. He said he ran it out of gas and it has not run rite since then. That was in 2008 I just got it last week. I took out as much gas as i could put new gas in and some gas treatment and FI cleaner. I can here the fuel pump running but if you open the cap on the tank it sounds like it is clicking. It only has 51000 on it body in awsome shap paint shot clear coat gone its all there.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks yep i was looking in the book in the wrong spot and the tps is working. just took off fuel line and there inst alot of gas coming out. so is it a huge pain to take out the tank. checked injectors all read 16.4 to 16.5
As for codes the light will be on but it wont read any codes some times it just stays lit and some times it just flashes the 12. one time i thought it read code 42. Electronic spark timing so ill check that stuff also
thanks pete

Dropping the tank is not bad at all really, my buddy and I dropped the one in his 91 formy when it died on him
when the ses stays lit when atempting to pull codes you have a weak connection when jumping a and b or there is an issue in your aldl circuit
as long as your getting a 12 and nothing else its safe to say its probably your fuel pump or a clogged filter, can you hear a hum in the gas tank if you turn the key to on(engine off)?

Thanks caveman Yes i can hear the pump start in the tank. And i have the proper amount of fuel comming out when i check it. And i have about 35 pounds of pressuer to the injectors. What i found is that i have no power going to any of the fuel injectors and what the book says is the the computer is bad. But my problem now is that i dont know if it is the comp or the chip and i can get a computer from a auto parts store for 80 bucks.

yeah i would swap ECM's and if that doesnt help is when i would look into a new chip
have you thought about setting your ecm up for tuning? if not check out Moates.net, they've got everything you need for custom tuning, and its easier to get chips that way, even if you dont tune and just burn a stock chip, or have a stock chip burned for you, ive got the full setup
word of advice though, dont bother with website chips or hypercrap chips, they just dump ungodly amounts of fuel on the tables and really doesnt help anything
Hello,
I had a 87 with the same issue. Did you check the fuses that run the injectors? the are driver side under the dash. one runs 4 injectors each. Had my iROC running on 4 cylinders and Chevy dealer didnt figure it out.
$75 for them to diagnose it and $1 for fuse.
