Hey - I have the exact same car - 1982 Camaro Belinetta with a 5.0 4-BBL V8. It is even white. Anyway, I have mine running pretty good and can let you know what has worked for me. For you situation, I would definately recommend changing the Coolant Temperature sensor. This is likely the cause for the poor idling. This sensor tells the computer how to adjust the fuel mixture and if it is bad the computer doesn't know what to do and it makes the car idle poorly (especially when the engine is cold). Good thing is that changing this sensor is pretty cheap ($20-$30) and easy to do. I would also HIGHLY recommend finding the original air cleaner (called a snorkel) as it doesn't just filter air - it also controls the 4 BBL and cold engine performance and if you plug some of the vacuum lines you may prevent the 4BBL from working altogether. Talk about limiting performance!
Anyway, feel free to ask me questions that you run into. I'm really enjoying my old Camaro!

Yes - it is a QuadrJet 4BBL and it has a 3-speed Automatic Transmission.

I see the vacuum line sticker on your one engine pic. It is in the bottom left of the pic. Route your vaccum lines as shown in that pic.
