1986 camaro questions
I have a 1986 camaro with a 305G engine from a 1991 firebird. The original top end of the engine was kept (4-barrelholly carb) and put on top of the new block from the firebird. The intake, cam, lifters, etc. may be stock but seem to be upgraded because of the power the car has. It is a 5-speed manual.
My question is the top speed of the car. I drove my car to the beach yesterday and tested it out a bit. In fifth gear I was doing 85 (that's all the speedo goes to) and i was at 5000 rmp's, give or take a few hundred because the tach may be wrong (idle should be somewhere around 750 but it says 1500). So if anormal V8 engine tops out at 5500 rmp's, what's wrong with my car?

im not sure what your asking, are you trying ask what your engine isnt topping out at 5500? if so you probably answered your own question the tach is probably off our cars are known for having junk tachs.
