Default 1986 Z28 questions

Just purchased a 1986 Z28. Seems to run really strong for a Z28. Transmission is very tight. If you floor it when you take off you will just sit there and white smoke the tires, when you finally take off it will hit about 45mph (orange line at 4500) and shift and burn the tires again. Wondering if that is common for the 86 Z28. This is my first Camaro. Is is possible that someone put a shift kit in the car. I am the 3rd owner of the car. 68000 original miles, t-tops, all power a/c works. Seems the car sits awlfully low to the ground. Really fast. Looked up the vin. 305 tpi. Old owner said he knows nothing of the car just wanted to get rid of it. Paid $700.00 for the car. VIN said pushes 190 hp, but lots of torque. Wasent sure if someone has same car and could give me some insight on the car.
Thanks
Tim

Sounds like it may have had a 350 installed in place of the 305.

if you only bought it for 700 i highly doubt it has 68,000 original miles, the odometer only goes up to 99k so your most likely have a 168k car. sounds like theres a 350 in it because i have a 86 iroc with 305 TPI and when i stomp it , it will barely chirps the tires. ( i think its because my iroc's posi though) can we see pics of the car?

I put a couple on yesterday. The car has limited slip. It will lay posi marks.

That is very common for a 23 year old car that put out around 150HP when new. Obviously someone must have removed the "smog crap". That'll get you both the white tire smoke along with "posi marks" for $700 I'll take 5!
