Default speedo cable noise

whats the best way to go about lubing the speedo cable? mine is starting to make a wirring noise from inside. my previous car did the same, and when i tried to lube it with wd40, it made it worse and sounded like 3 dozen angry squirrels had escaped from the engine

Default RE: speedo cable noise

remove it from the back of the speedo in the dash, pull the inner cable out with needle nose pliers wipe it down and then lube it with grease, I think there is a grease made for speedo cables but not sure, most people use lithim grease, lube it as you put it back into the outer cable. when you get to the end you will have to rotate it as you push it in so it will line up with the speedo gear in the trans
