What's the best auto-tranny for my driving style?
I have a strong feeling that I am going to be either having to rebuild my 700R4 in my 91 RS. But my question is, can this transmission withstand the crap I put it through ? By the crap I put it through , I mean. Downshifting by hand , and shifting and winding out all the gears by hand. Is this why it is tearing out on me ? Because I like to downshift and shift it by hand? And if this is true. What would be the ideal transmission ? Other than putting a stick in instead. Which is too much work more than what its probably worth. Somewhere down the line I would like to install a ratchet shifter by B&M. But, I gotta know if the transmission is going to withstand it.

I did some sniffing around on google. And I think I found a decent deal. What do ya think ? http://racetransmissions.com/store/p...products_id/32
I am thinking about getting a TH-350 or a TH-400 w/ a shift kit in it for right now then maybe later down the road get a 5 spd and stick in it.

deffinetly get a th350, they hold up in jsut about anything, and the 700r4 trannys are basically just made to do everyday driving and not beating the hell out of it, even with the shift kit. th350's are made for just about anything as far as racing, or just daily driving, w/out the shift kit, but if you were going to get a new transmission, i would deffinetly recommend the th350, the th400 is jsut overkill for what your doing, you could find a th350 just about anywhere for the same amount of money that it would cost to get the 700r4 rebuilt and to install a shift kit.
