Default Transmission Problems

I have a T-5. It goes into every gear fine at start-up,but it's hard to get into first and second and grinds in reverse after running for a couple minutes. I thought maybe my clutch is going out, but then why is it only 1st, 2nd, and reverse. Gears 3-5 shift a little harder than I'd like but not nearly as bad as the other gears. I also thought maybe syncros were bad, but do the T-5's have a syncro in reverse? I dont think they do, which wouldn't explain the grinding in reverse. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

it sounds like the syncros and a clutch. but even if your syncros are gone, you should replace the clutch while the trans is out. just remember, first gear and reverse gear are the same gear, and it is the same syncro. so it sounds like your 1-2 sycro is going, just pull the trans and take it to a shop, it wont cost too much to replace the syncros. dont just get one done, get them all done lol

You have a hydraulic clutch right? My friends Z24 slave and master cylinder were going to hell and he was having the same problems. First trying bleeding and topping off with brake fluid and if not that, then you may have to replace it all. The only thing is that on a Camaro, they are in the worst possible spot ever.

i had a similar problem, thought it was my slave, wrong, thought it was the clutch, so i ordered a really nice one, cost me 400 bucks, wrong, sent it back cause i found the true problem... the nut who put the motor in ( not me ) didnt make the bolts keeping the bell housing on the block tight enough, thus, they all came loose on me and started slipping apart, when i finaly saw it, it had lost bout 1/8 inch. tightened the bolts back up and its fixed. Check all simple stuff first man, everytime. Simple and cheap before thinking the worst possible scenario
