We were thinking of ditching our 700R4 (I believe that's what the stock A4 was) and going to something different. Is there anything that would fit easily without too much effort? We were thinking turbo 400, but we don't know if it would fit or not. Let me know please.

Well it isn't necessarily the 700 in general but our specific 700. We are wondering if it is failing. We have also thought of getting another 700 that is new, but they are expensive.

I bought a TCI streetfighter 700r4 from summit for $1400 and It it the best tranny I have ever owned. I have it behind a 350hp 350 in my '85 camaro and it shifts awsome. 2nd gear chirps at 1/4 throttle and sometimes 3rd gear chirps at full throttle. I highly recommend it. Although you can get a th350 or 400 for under $1000, is it really what you want? To go back to old technology with no OD?
