Default Shifter Question

I was pulling the automatic shifter gear off of a 3rd gen camaro. There were 2 cords attached to it. One of the cords went down to the transmission for shifting. The other one went up under the dash on the drivers side.

What is the cable that goes up under the dash on the drivers side? Its connected to the shifter gear, and is pulled when you press the button to shift into another gear. It cant be for the speedometer because it isnt connected to the transmission. It also looks like it doesnt go through the firewall but heads up towards the gauges.

Im putting a 1991 TBI 350 an 700R4 into a 73 camaro. Im using the shifter gear off of the third gen with a 700r4. Im wondering what that 2nd cable is and if i need it. Any information is helpful. Im going back to the junkyard this afternoon and if any of you know if I need it or not then it would save me some time of tracking where it goes and seeing what it does.

The cable that goes under the dash is the ignition interlock so the car cant go into park while the key is on. It goes right to the switch at the bottom of the column and can be removed. Your camaro if its already an automatic has a different ttype of lock mechanism
