i can start my camaro but it will idle and it will idle rough and when i touch the gas it kills. i have a 305 carburated engine in it and a electronic fuel pump in the gas tank do i need to take out the fuel pump and get a different one or is that not even my problem? if i take out that fuel pump should i just get a different tank?

 

for one, does it do this all the time, or only a cold start. if its just during a cold start, then you need to use the choke. if it happens all the time, it is possible it could be the fuel pump, but the carb could also be in need of a rebuild. my friends holley carb did the same thing. he bought an edelbrock carb and it ran fine after a little adjusting. try adjusting your carb first. screw in the tuning screws all teh way, and unscrew each one 2 revolutions. start it up, and fine tune it from there. if it continues to do that, try looking into the fuel filter, then the fuel pump, and worst comes to worst, get a carb rebuild, or buy a new one. i would prefer an edelbrock 500 or 600cfm, they are pretty cheap.

 

we could drive it during the summer but then it would kill after the carb flooded we had it pretty well adjusted and just rebuilt before we put it on ill try tuning it better next time i work on it how much would a new fuel filter a and a new fuel pump for a carb run?
