Default question about electric fans

ok so when i owned my jeep a common thing to do was replace the mechanical fan with an electric fan from a taurus and it was supposed to give you more power. the only thing i figured that would make it hold true was it would take the load off of the crankshaft and put it on the alternator thus decreasing how much the engine itself needs to turn. would that make sense? because if this is the case then i plan to put an electric fan on my z28. ill probably do it anyways but all the same.

You got an 87? The last year for carbs. The last year for the Vbelts or semi serpintine.
When I installed a serpintine kit on my 84 I had to use an e-fan because it has a reversed direction on the water pump and the only thing I could think of that had a fan on that type system was a pick up. So I left my shroud on a put the biggest e-fan inside it and two smaller pushers on the a/c condesor that came on when I switched on the a/c.
