Nice sounding engine.
Definitely will have to run Premium with that compression ratio
You'll also have to get the heads modified. Stock vortecs are limited to about .45" lift.
If you get the valve seat modified (or possibly us beehive springs) you can get to just over .50"

I agree with the other folks. A T56 is the way to go. I've seen complete pull-outs go for $1,400 on e-bay.

thanx for the tips guys. My friend who is a big 300Z fan said he would have figured that the t5 would hold up to it fine because that was the strongest tranny they put in those cars or something like that but before i do the engine swap ill be getting the t56

not too sure on the vortec heads if they'll support that much power. i think theyre stock valve sizes, you didnt specify. i would recomend a set of heads with 2.02 intake valve and 1.60 exhaust valves. im building a similar engine, but im going with a slightly modified tpi intake (port matched, large tb), and assembled aluminum heads. im looking for about 400 hp and 450 lb ft tq.
