Default custom hood idea

Hello... im new.... i have a 92 camaro rs with the stock 305 and hopefully this winter it will have a 350 in it or a 383 not too sure cuz of money issues... but i was thinking of changing hoods out and putting in a plexiglass hood and having like rope lighting underneigth it so it would make the engine bay glow... i think it would look nice and stand out... idk.. its just an idea but if i do go threw it... i need to find a place that would specialize in forming it ... got any ideas on where someone might do it??

as much as i dont like "lights" in the hood and whatnot. That would be a custom job. Take your time with a jigsaw and a good blade. Roll the edges SMOOTHLY. I dont know how your gonna attach the plexi though. Unless your darn good at fab work it will be tough.

If you find a place, let me know. But you would want lexan, not plexiglass which can crack. I've thought the same thing for my car too. Covering up the engine is one reason why I don't want to put a hood back on my car. I compare it to putting a turtle-neck sweater on a Playboy centerfold. Who in their right mind would want to do that?

Plexiglass hood and glow rope? Make sure you add the unglow lights, lower the car, add lots of stick on accessories and a GIANT spoiler. Dont forget to pull all your dash parts and paint them some obnoxious neon color.

Sweet Hesus man, this is American muscle we are talking about, not a friggen Honda Prelude!

Spend your money on an engine. Its gonna set you back a bit.........

Welcome aboard. Dont let my frankness offend you. Im just getting really tired of what used to be a very technical site becoming a question board for cosmetic accessories.

We can walk you thru that engine swap when yer ready.

I have an 87 IROC and I got a new Edelbrock intake and such and figured out the intake was actually not meant to be placed on a camaro but i threw it on there anyway and between my carb and my breather my hood wasn't going to shut all the way so I just took a sawzall and cut a hole out and now I'm designing my own ram air. First I took off the stock plastic pieces , (http://media.photobucket.com/image/1...pd/VAIO051.jpg) those. And now I'm taking some old sheet metal that has been morphed to shape and some fiberglass resin and where the front of the stock pieces start, there will be two scoops that connect right over the filter and it hopefully will look a little more professional lol. And kinda like a trans am hood, maybe like this one- http://rodfathersamarillo.com/yahoo_...4357_large.jpg

And that's just temporary until I save up enough to buy a cowl hood.
