Sorry, please come clean
who is attempting to do this build or are you hoping to do it in the future?
Did the person purchase an entire donor car or just the engine?
Please provide details on exactly what is going on, or hope to occur, and then answers can be given

You will need a bucket of $100 bills....
You will need to get the motor in the bay, which will be no small feat in and of itself, beyond that you'll need at least:
1. A way to deliver fuel. You need to find what the 98 camaro's GPH pump was, and then see if you can retrofit one in your tank.
2. You'll need to figure what trans was attached, I think it was still a 4L60E, if so you are in luck. The bad news is that I am 99% sure due to the differences in mounting location you will need a fab'd crossmember and then that will throw off your torque arm mounting location.
3. You will need the entire computer from that 1998 car to make your ignition, timing, injectors, and trans work.
4. Your gauges will not work. I am again 99% sure sending units were different on the LS1 than the L98.
5. Another bucket of money...

one more time
details and actual facts would be very helpful.
If it's buddy's dad's car then get as many details from the dad, post up the questions here and we'll be glad to help.
To begin, what exactly exists today and in what shape. Was a complete donor vehicle purchased ?

Installing a LS1 in other cars is very common. The 3rd gen is a good move becaue the computer is not tied into everything. If you check out the project section we have a member that just finished a putting one in a 77 Camaro. You can make your original harness work but it will look pretty ugly when it done. You can buy a harness from Painless and send your PCM out for a tune and they can disable all the crap you don't need. We do not have many people who have done the type of swap but there are a lot out there. I can not send you link to other forum but if you search. Painless LS1 Swap in google you will find them. Please do a build thread and give us as much info as possible.
For the fuel system you need to get to a pump the has both the correct pressure and more then enough gallons per minute. To get it started you just need the pressure. Low GMP will limit your HP.
Thanks.
