Temperature Sensor

Where is the coolant temperature sensor located on a 1980 Z 28 engine?
I was told on the intake manifold but mine is not stock and has no sensor.

even on an after market intake it is at the front on the drivers side next to the thermostat. It is normally a brass fitting with a line running to your dash.

Thanks, I will check it out this weekend.
Gauge is not working so I thought I would check that first.

Found it or more like where it should be.
The PO had it plugged. No seansor and god knows where the pigtail fo it is.
No wonder the gauge is not working.
