Coolant temperature sensor location- 2000 ls1
Ive been looking online and it seems there are two sensors? one on the waterpump area, and the other near cylinder 1? is this correct? i know the lt1 is like this.

Right, there are two. The one in the water pump is the temperature sensor, which is part of what tells the system to go from open to closed loop mode.
The one in the head is the temperature sending unit, which works your dash gauge.

Ok, you threw me for a second with that trick question, where you found online that the car has two sensors. That's all I've been used to, but in looking deeper it appears you only have the one Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor in the head. Are you having either engine or gauge problems?

Im having MPG problems, still. 12-13 city, and dont really do highway driving much, i did change the sensor in the head and made the mpg go from 7 to 12/13 city, however that sensor was the cheapo store brand, so i was thinking if i swapped with a delphi sensor and now hearing that theres one more in the waterpump, maybe this is the end of my mpg headaches?
To add, prior to this new idea about the sensors, i changed
plugs, wires, all o2 sensors, did a back pressure test for the cats, air catch valves on both sides, ran mopar combustion chamber cleaner through vacuum, pulled the injectors & made sure they are okay(flowtest), air/gas filter

A good portion of city mpg's depends on whether you drive stop and go, or stop and GO!!
I can't imagine you drive it like a granny all the time.
Concentrate on your driving habits, leave your lead-lined right shoe at home, and try babying the car for one tankful, then see what you get.

Ive tried it a few times, highest i would get is 13.5, when i got the car I was getting driving 16.5 city driving the same exact way, im stumped
most of the time i would drive at 1500-2000 rpms, occasionally 2500 to over take
the past 3-4 tanks i kinda gave up on trying with the mpgs so i`ve been giving it the lead foot

Hard to say, I don't like using the cheapo store bought sensors though. I usually like to get my important stuff, name brand, from rockauto.
By the way, does your exhaust smell like it's burning rich, either when idling or if someone is following you with their eyes burning?
