Default coolant temperature sensor or circuit fault

Trying to troubleshoot my 89rs. Got the check engine code that told me "coolant temperature sensor or circuit fault"

It's ECM code 15. Does anyone know what i could do to further troubleshoot this problem? or a fix?

Thanks in advance, you all always have very good insight

Check your connections at the sensor. If they check out ok, then a new sensor would be the next logical choice. It could be something else though, but sensors do crap out. Is there a difference in performance between having a cold or hot engine?

What is the sensor called/ where can i find it?
The car runs like crap no matter what. It starts, but bogs down a LOT when i press the gas. sometimes dies. i had a thread on here a while ago about it, but i haven't figured out the problem yet.

It's called a temperature sensor (not the temp sending unit for your gauge). I'd have to look at my repair manual, but it's at home and I'm not. It should be the one that's either on the water neck or directly in the intake manifold.
But, when the engine is cold, it runs in "open loop" mode which means off factory computer presets. Once the engine warms up, the temp sensor puts the system in "closed loop" mode and the air/fuel mix is then controlled by the engine management sensors. The fact that your engine runs like crap "no matter what", makes me think that it may not be the temp sensor. If the sensor was the cause, the engine would run ok when cold, but then run like crap once it kicks in.
What you might want to try is go to the auto store and get a spray can of Mass Airflow cleaner. Remove your intake tube before the throttle body and spray the air intake sensor until it's clean. Also clean your air flow sensor, it may be closer to the air box. I don't know the specifics of your setup off the top of my head. Keep your fingers off of them, they don't like getting poked. If those intake sensors are gunked up, the engine will run like crap.
