Thanks!

I spent the day yesterday blasting the inside of the car to get it ready to prime. I have been lolly gagging on that. I wasnt wanting to sit inside a sand blaster and that was exactly what it was like. At one point I fell over and got in a situation where I was stuck pulling the trigger and sand blasting my face at the same time. Not fun but very funny when I think about it. Dumb azz. Oh well. I did find out that I love my new 20 dollar siphon feed blaster 10x more than my 80 dollar pressure vessel. The siphon gun never once slowed me down and with 500# of beach sand on hand I didnt have to stop and refill the tank. That was worth 20 bucks on its own.

Here's a tip for the guys who fall on this thread. Get a cheap siphon feed from Tractor Supply or where ever and then get a Rubbermaid garbage can and build a dolly for it out of an old office chair. I wheeled 500# of sand around the car with no issues what so ever. The five wheels were plenty enought to hold the weight. I then used play sand from Lowes for the whopping $2.60 for a 50# bag. I got 10. When I was done blasting I swept it all up and vacuumed it with the shop vac. By the time I sifted it through a screen I had recovered 80% of my sand and still had more than would fit in the garbage can.

The results were nice and consistent. My pressure vessel would varry depending on the compressor pressure. Not that I was running out of air but it would get less powerful. The cheapy one was the same no matter how much I used it. Plus as soon as I stopped the compressor would catch up. I gotta say it used less air.

Now my face. I fell over on my hand and the gun was pointed at the panel with it ricocheting back in my face. I was stuck a good ten seconds. Too funny. But now the inside is almost ready for primer and sound deadener. I will be doing that as soon as the weather is warm enough to spray and I find my gun. lol

I was gonna get one of those siphon guns from TS and decided to hold off. Glad to know they actually work and I like the rolling garbage can idea a lot! Glad to hear you're getting back at it too. I'm a bit jealous but I've had my hands full for a few week anyway. Have to get my mind straight again and I'm diving back in myself. Wouldn't mind seeing a couple pics of the progress man!

It got dark and I had to feed the boys otherwise i would have took pics. As it was I had to sweep the driveway at dusk, get the car back in, and get the boys to the shower before their bed time. Which didnt happen. Ahh dad always bends the rules. But getting them up for school was no joke after a week off and staying up late working with dad.

You bend the rules too huh? I knew it wouldn't be easy for my kids to get up for school yesterday after the TN trip in 2 days there and back. Yesterday they got up fine, today on the other hand, a much different story. You'd think they hadn't slept in days and it wasn't even them that didn't sleep!

I'm sure you'll get pics up in time, I love to see any progress from anyone. Looking forward to seeing them. I bet the sand in the face wasn't funny at the time but I can totally picture it and probably would've laughed at you anyway. I was thinking about just going out to the road I live on and loading up some of the sand that's everywhere from the winter. I figured the salt that's mixed in with the sand would be counter productive, so I decided against it.

Yeah the facial wasnt all that fun but I laughed at myselff right after. I get that way with myself. No need to get pissed. I thought it was funny and would have laughed at someone else too. My cheek is fine but I was scared for a second to feel it.

This is a late post since I am a new member and enjoying your Camaro project. We did the HRPT while run last year from the GM Proving Grounds in Livonia, Mi to Arlington, Tx. It was fantastic. Everywhere you looked there were old cars and muscle cars.

I was surprised at some of the small towns we went through where there were people watching from lawn chairs waiting for the cars to roll through.

We were honored to be a stop to begin with then to get a second year straight was unheard of.

I got the inside primed this evening and asphyxiated myself in the process. I have a nice buzz right now at least. I didnt put a huge effore into prep because I will be spraying Lizard Skin over the primer. I needed a base coat to stick to. So there is sand and in there and some spots where the undercoating that was in there weren't removed completely. But with a total build of .080-.100" the Lizard Skin will cover just about any defect.

Well last night I put down a second coat of primer and tonight I seam sealed what I could. I need to get the floor plugs cleaned up. I actually need to find a few more because I am about three short. The seam sealer doesnt have to look pretty so I just went to town.

Simple pics but I am making progress. Sucks with the weather the way it is. the temps are in the 40's and its been pouring buckets for days and will be for the next week. I wanted to do more but I get too cold too fast. Its all I can do to get the garage warm enough to prime. Then shut it down so I dont blow myself up. Anyhow, I am getting ready to shoot sound deadener soon.
