I'm not sure on the brand. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts he bought it a Lowes though. He's a Lowesaholic.

It is a through the wall? As in inside/outside? I'll have to look. Is there a separate condenser? That would be nice, we actually host alot of summer parties in the garage, one of our friends is COPD and the humidity bothers her, so the AC is nice.

It looks just like a window unit just bigger. It runs on 220. My uncle installed it in an afternoon. It looks like one you would see at a hotel. Not quite that big though.

I have a question regarding running 220v to the garage though. Vall knowing your background I'm aiming toward you. I currently have the garage wired on a double throw 40amp (I think) breaker to a sub panel with two 30 amp breakers. My plans are to run another run of wire to another sub panel for the 220v. One industrial twist lock plug for the welder and the compressor will be hard wired. The house was wired with a electric range plug with a 50amp breaker. This has 8-3 wire running almost to where the conduit goes to the garage. So the plan is to add another length of 8-3 all the way to the garage from there. Now, whats the max amperage I can pull on that wire? Can I go higher than 50A? The reason I ask is that if I get into a situation where the compressor and the welder are running at the same time (think plasma cutter), I don't want to pop the breaker way back at the main panel.

Should I just go 6-3 and just get a bigger sub panel and run the whole garage off it, instead of the low voltage on another line? What's a safe amperage for 6 gauge. At over 3 bucks a foot I really don't want the 100' run I'd need.

As for the car. I got the wheels on order. There are a set of LS rear discs in the works and I'm gonna be firing the mean b**ch up soon.
Actually the 8/3 is not even rated for 50a. except in a range situation. Ranges are allowed to use a size smaller (40a.) wire because they know you will never be using all the burners and the oven at one time. The 6/3 is rated 55a., but can be used on the next higher breaker rating of 60a. But 6/3 wont be correct for a sub panel unless you only have double breakers in the panel. Three conductor feeds will give you 2 hots and a neutral, so without a ground you'd have to run a separate ground back to the main panel to make it legal by code. If you ran the separate ground, or ran 6/4, then you could legally run 120v. loads in the sub panel too. So if it's just 220/240v. loads then it doesn't matter as the 3rd wire would be the ground, not the neutral.

I know what you are talking about. They have a blower and everything, something like that would work out great.

IDK if 6-4 would fit through the pvc pipe that is running underground.

what about a total of 4 #6 wires, without them being in one cable?

Running multi conductor NM cable inside pipe isn't code either. It can only be done in pipe sleeves of 2' or less, or in short lengths of flex for protection. The 4 loose individual conductors will be needed to run through PVC pipe.

Well I got a new cherry picker tonight. Its an AC Delco brand. I know there all the same but this has nice welds and is painted silver and blue. Used 1 time to install a book return mach at a library, the guy wasn't a car guy but his company factors in a new one for every job. Then they either give them away or toss them in the garbage. $120 couldn't pass it up.
