210 cc with a small block would be horrible! Unless that SBC was really built for all out racing. Even 200cc runners would be too big. I'd go with something down around 190cc runners.
Edelbrocks at Summit for $569 complete, minus rocker arms. 185cc runners, 64cc combustion chambers, 2.02"x1.60" valves.

That is sort of along the lines of what I had gotten just out of the reading I've done. The thing about the Edelbrocks though, at the moment they are a bit out of my price range, although, I could suck it up a bit longer.

As for buying used, I'm thinking right along with you, who knows what I'll be getting, the springs could be all wrong, they could need a valve job.... some nutjob could have "ported" them... I'll just go new here. The procomps seem like they are a good deal, but don't really have the best rep. Although, it does seem to be getting better.

Just came into a good score. Got a set of Vortec heads.

They have been magged, cut for the bigger springs, and new valves, springs/retainers, screw in studs, and new guideplates put in. I hope that they do what I want them to. They do have the smaller 1.94 valves though, I really wanted to get a good set of aluminum heads with 2.02 valves, but the price was definitely right. Also came with alot of other toys that I am going to sell and get some $$$ to finish this engine and get it in the car.

You won't regret the Vortecs. Plus once you grow into you motor you can upgrade without much effort. 1.94s on those are said to be IT, as in going bigger would actually hurt performance. I'm just repeating what I've read as I don't own any.

Really pretty tiny difference between 1.94 and 2.02 valves, and as Damon said, I think the 1.94's will be a better head for a engine that's not highly modified.

I'll toss it together at any rate. Worst case scenario is that this winter, I'll "upgrade" it. Although, I'm really thinking that I'll probably just start another toy. From what I've read, these heads are very popular, I've no recollection of ever reading anything negative about them really. So, I should be pleased.

Now that is just about what I need isn't it? A good kick in the A$$. I was hoping that my FIL would be the one for that, but I think I confound him more than anything. I overthink everything.
