What muffler should I install?
Pic of my 78 camaro at long beach WA rod run
Hey guys,
I have a 1978 type LT Camaro with a 305 SBC. It has a mild cam, 4 barrel quadrajet, y pipe exhaust system, single stock muffler, two tail pipes coming out of muffler, and a cat ( but i will be removing it when i add new muffler. I also will NOT be adding dual pipes. So what is your guys' recommendation for me if i want to put on a flowmaster muffler that gives the car deep, throaty, somewhat loud tone but doesnt sound like a nascar. Any flowmaster series in particular? Also i don't have the money to upgrade my engine so if yall could refrain yourselves from crapping on my 305 i would appreciate it. Thx.

Nice car! I have a ‘79 with a 305 and here’s the exhaust system I put on. It really opened up my engine. Fairly easy install. Stainless Steel and cross flow duals. Nice idle rumble but smooths out on highway. I de-smogged my engine and added an Edlebrock 4bbl and intake. Fun, smooth driving engine. People dog on the 305 but actually if you give it a good fuel intake and open up the exhaust system it accelerates and sounds good too. I’m putting on headers in the spring.
