I didn't work on it today but found some 1.6 roller rockers and a jet plate conversion kit for a Holley 4160 on CL for cheap. I'm waiting to hear if he'll sell me a pair of bare camel hump ported heads and several GM head gaskets(14 I think) and a Mr Gasket overhaul gasket set. Great prices if I can get them. Fingers are crossed.

Well, the other guy never showed so I picked up the ported camel hump heads, GM head gaskets, Mr Gasket overhaul gasket set along with a set of barely used old school(1970) LT1 valve springs all for $95. The guy is a GM and Chrysler product engineer and was a wealth of knowledge and interesting stories. I probably talked cars with him for more than 3 hours. All in all, a good day! On top of that I went to the Woodward Dream Cruise yesterday and today. You'll never see so many cool classic cars in one place. Amazingly engineered and built cars. Some not so classic or hot rods but still cool.

Heck, just getting to learn from somebody that really knows GM cars is worth the $95 itself! I hope you're planning on all new stainless valves and hardened seats on those heads! That way they'll work on unleaded and last a long time!

all i did was change my spark plugs today. runs a lot smoother though. and one of the plugs had a slightly warped ground electrode and looked like it had been hit on the top of it with something. :/

Val, the heads just had hardened exhaust valve seats installed along with new valve guides and I have the valves already. I may pick up new valves anyway. They use the spark plugs that have a gasket so I have to find the right plugs.

I use Champion R12 in mine, but mine is an 60's 327 with 9.5:1 CR.

Looked at pics of it, thought about it, dreamed of doing burn outs in it.

Val, the heads have 64 cc chambers and my pistons have a small dish and 4 valve reliefs. I don't know what my CR will be but I'm guessing around 10:1. I'll have to do some research. They have screw in studs but no guide plates. Do you know if I can I just add the guide plates or do I need the stud boss machined lower?

I pulled the motor mount bolts so that I could lift the motor to remove my headers. They badly need media blasting and considering getting them jet-hot ceramic coated. I also welded in a few more sheet metal patches in the rear floor pan and seat pans. I also put the valves and springs on my new camel hump heads. I'm looking for a good machine shop to do a good multi-angle valve job.
