Default Tranny fluid leak...

OK, my Camaro's tranny is leaking and I can't pinpoint exactly where. It's not too bad of a leak but it's enough to worry me a bit. I checked the tranny fluid level yesterday and was low, so I put more in and checked everything. Aside from finding an oil leak at the pan, there was tranny fluiddripping fromthe transmission pan. So, Ichecked the pan and all the bolts were tight, and it has a new gasket. I tore off the flywheel cover but to no avail, and there's no obvious leak from the tailshaft... I tried running it for 5 minutes in my driveway but it didn't start leaking so my guess is it's only doing it while I'm driving... I serviced it about a month ago and it was roughly 3/4 quart low and that's too much for me to not worry about. Help please! BTW, it's a TH350 tranny on a '75 RS.

One thing the THM trans is known for is leaking at the dipstick tube. This will usually show up if the car is parked for a few days. The leak will not be there at first but as the fluid settles the level gets high enough to leak. Other spots to check are the modulator, the governor cover and the cooler fittings. Get yourself a can of brake cleaner, it will wash off the fluid and dry quickly. Then watch to see where the fluid comes from.

Two popular places for the trans to leak are from the shifter linkage shaft, and the speedometer gear housing. Either one can leak down and run along the pan lip to make it look like the pan is doing the leaking.
