removing my 79's speedo cable

Default removing my 79's speedo cable

i took my camaro to my auto shop at school and couldn't quite detach the cable from the back of the cluster how do you pull it off? pictures would REALLY help

Look for this type of spring clip: Speedo Cable Clip that will be around the speedo cable housing. Just push the tab down against the cluster, and pull the cable out.

its that easy? i tired that a few times i guess i just didn't push it down hard enough thank you though

i took it off and poured a little oil in there hoping it would stop bouncing but it didn't solve the problem but it did help

Take it back off, pull the inner cable out of the housing, clean it off with a good solvent (brake cleaner), and lube it back up with a graphite-based speedo cable lubricant. Oil is the last thing you want to use on a speedo cable, and it will actually cause a needle to bounce.
