Hi can someone tell me the difference between the Delco D308R distributor caps that say "PATENT PENDING" and "PATENT 2769047" is it just that they were made in different years? Does the same apply for the D308 caps as well?

i wouldnt worry about weather the cap says patent pending or patent 2769047, as long as it is stamped AC DELCO and its the right cap for your application...i dont see what the problem is. also the part number. there are thousands of companies that make gm dist. caps. so what could be the senario also is that another company makes it and delco put it in there box. just like ac delco pads are really just raybestest pads. and other things like that. but as long as the cap is the same as the one you are replacing it with. i wouldnt worry about what is stamped under neath it.
